10 Days Morocco Tour for Families from Casablanca to Marrakech

Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca

Welcome to Morocco! Upon arrival at Mohammed V Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your family-friendly hotel. If energy levels permit, take a short introductory drive to see the magnificent Hassan II Mosque from the outside—its scale is sure to impress everyone. The evening is free to relax, swim, and adjust to the new time zone.

Day 2: Coastal Drive to the Capital: Rabat & On to Chefchaouen

After breakfast, we take a short drive up the coast to Morocco’s capital, Rabat. Here, we’ll make brief but captivating stops: see the outside of the Royal Palace and the striking Hassan Tower and Mausoleum. These open spaces are perfect for a short, interesting walk without overwhelming the kids.
In the afternoon, we continue our scenic drive towards the Rif Mountains, arriving at the mesmerizing blue city of Chefchaouen in the evening. The first sight of the blue-washed buildings is a magical moment for all.

Day 3: Exploring the Blue Pearl: Chefchaouen

Enjoy a free day to explore Chefchaouen at your family’s own pace. This is a relaxed day with no schedules. Wander through the peaceful blue alleyways—a photographer’s dream. For a fun adventure, take a gentle family hike up to the Spanish Mosque for a stunning panoramic view of the town nestled in the mountains. It’s the perfect day to relax and soak in the unique, calming vibe.

Day 4: Chefchaouen to the Ancient City of Fes

After a leisurely breakfast, we journey south towards the spiritual capital of Morocco, Fes. The drive offers beautiful views of the countryside. We will arrive in the afternoon, giving you time to check into your riad and perhaps have a first refreshing swim in the pool. The evening can be spent exploring the immediate area around your riad or enjoying a quiet dinner.

Day 5: Family-Friendly Fes Exploration

Today, meet your expert local guide for a sensory-focused tour of the ancient Fes medina, designed to be engaging for kids. Key highlights include viewing the famous tanneries from a terrace (with mint provided to help with the smell!), watching artisans at work in their workshops, and exploring the vibrant streets. The tour is kept short and sweet to maintain everyone’s interest and energy.

Day 6: Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert

Embark on a scenic drive towards the desert. We’ll make fun stops along the way: first in Ifrane, a charming town known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and then in the cedar forests to look for the resident Barbary macaque monkeys. After lunch in Midelt, watch the landscape transform as we descend through the dramatic Ziz Valley gorge. The first sight of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes is a unforgettable moment. Overnight at a desert auberge with a pool.

Day 7: Sahara Desert Adventure Day

A day of pure desert magic! After a relaxed morning, you can choose a fun 4×4 safari to visit a nomadic family and a fossil site. In the late afternoon, the highlight arrives: a gentle sunset camel trek into the dunes (one camel per child). You’ll arrive at your luxury desert camp for an evening of sandboarding, a campfire dinner under the stars, and storytelling.

Day 8: Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley – Skoura – Ouarzazate

After a desert sunrise and breakfast, we begin our journey back. We stop at the Todra Gorge for a short, flat walk along the river—a perfect natural playground for kids to stretch their legs. We then drive through the Dades Valley with its funny “monkey finger” rock formations and the Rose Valley before arriving in Ouarzazate. Overnight in a hotel with a pool.

Day 9: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas – Marrakech

Before crossing the mountains, we visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This ancient fortified village is a real-life castle for kids to explore and has been a backdrop for many famous films. After lunch, we cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass over the High Atlas Mountains, with plenty of photo stops, before descending into Marrakech.

Day 10: Departure from Marrakech

Enjoy one final Moroccan breakfast. Depending on your flight schedule from Marrakech Menara Airport, you will be transferred for your departure, filled with incredible memories of your family’s Moroccan adventure.
