Day 1: Arrival and Immersion in Marrakech

Welcome to Morocco! Upon your arrival at Marrakech Menara Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your family-friendly riad or hotel. After checking in, the day is yours to relax and soak in the first impressions of the Red City. We recommend a calm evening to let everyone adjust, perhaps with a gentle stroll through the nearby souks or a refreshing dip in the pool to shake off any travel fatigue. This gentle start ensures your family is well-rested and ready for the adventures ahead.

Day 2: Marrakech to Bomalne – Hiking in the Foothills

After an early breakfast, we depart Marrakech and drive towards the stunning Ourika Valley in the High Atlas foothills. Our destination is the Bomalne area, renowned for its beautiful waterfalls, traditional Berber villages, and fantastic hiking trails suitable for families.

Upon arrival, you’ll meet your local Berber guide who will lead you on a 3-hour guided hike. The trail is chosen for its manageable incline and breathtaking scenery, passing through walnut groves and alongside flowing streams. You’ll visit a traditional Berber house for a refreshing mint tea, offering a genuine cultural experience. After the hike, enjoy a leisurely lunch at a restaurant with stunning valley views.

In the afternoon, we continue our journey, driving deeper into the mountains before descending towards your hotel.

Day 3: Dades Valley to Merzouga – Entering the Sahara

Fuel up with breakfast before a scenic drive through the dramatic Dades Valley, famous for its unique “Monkey Fingers” rock formations. Our next stop is the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where the family can take a gentle, flat walk along the riverbank between the towering canyon walls—a perfect natural playground.

We then continue towards the Sahara Desert, with the landscape transforming before your eyes. The first glimpse of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes is a moment of pure magic. In Merzouga, you’ll switch to camels for a peaceful sunset trek into the heart of the dunes (one camel per child; a 4×4 is available for toddlers).

You’ll arrive at your luxury desert camp as the stars emerge. The evening features a delicious dinner, Berber music around a campfire, sandboarding, and incredible stargazing.

Day 4: Desert Exploration and Journey to Ouarzazate

Early risers are rewarded with a breathtaking Saharan sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you’ll return to your desert auberge via camel or 4×4. The morning is yours to explore: choose a fun 4×4 desert safari to visit a nomadic family and a fossil site, or simply relax and swim in the pool at your auberge.

After lunch, we begin our drive back towards civilization, traveling through arid landscapes and along the rugged Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. We arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon. If time permits and the family is up for it, you can visit the Atlas Film Studios.

Day 5: Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou

After breakfast, we embark on our return journey to Marrakech. Our key stop is the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, the most famous ksar in Morocco. Exploring its ancient, fortified streets feels like stepping into a real-life movie set (it’s been featured in Gladiator and Game of Thrones), an adventure that will captivate both kids and adults.

After lunch, we cross the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass over the High Atlas Mountains once more, with plenty of photo opportunities and rest stops. We arrive back in Marrakech in the late afternoon, with the evening free for you to enjoy a final dinner in the city.

Day 6: Departure from Marrakech

Enjoy one final Moroccan breakfast at your riad. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some free time for last-minute souvenir shopping in the souks. You will then be transferred to Marrakech Menara Airport for your departure, filled with incredible memories of mountains, deserts, and shared family adventures.
